Vineet Rahul showcased his winter/ festive men’s and womenswear collection “Pichwai” on day one of Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai and presented a mix of florals, metallics, and sheer textiles for a modern take on the traditional embroidery technique.

On Wednesday, Rahul took the rich heritage of Pichwai and presented it in a wearable and innovative way. Male models walked the runway in thick cotton kurta-coats, loose separates, and fusion-style suits featuring floral embroidery in hues including blue, grey, and green. Female models wore loose tunic dresses paired with palazzo pants, wrap shirt-dresses, and sheer robes over simple slips to showcase Rahul’s take on Pichwai.
Pichwai is a collection of “love, devotion, flamboyance and vibrancy,” wrote Vineet Rahul on his brand’s social media. Rahul’s “contemporary interpretation of Pichwai” features lotus flower embroidery details and other delicate floral motifs on light, sheer textiles with loose sleeves and frill details. The brand retails on a number of multi-brand e-commerce stores Pernia’s Pop-Up Shop, Jaypore, and Aashni & Co. among others.
Lakme Fashion Week began on August 21 and runs until August 25 at the St Regis in Mumbai. The fashion week, which is sponsored by Lakme, IMG Reliance, and Nexa, is celebrating its 20th birthday with this edition.
