Victoria's Secret to open store in Mumbai, plans 10 store openings in three to five years
Inner-wear, beauty, and lifestyle brand Victoria’s Secret will open its first brick-and-mortar store in India in Palladium Mall in Mumbai this August and plans to open 10 stores in the country in the coming three to five years.
For its first store opening, Victoria’s Secret has partnered with local franchise retailer Major Brands, ET Retail reported. The store will measure 5,000 square feet and will feature three of the brand’s product categories: flagship lingerie line Victoria’s Secret, perfume and body care line Victoria’s Secret Beauty, and inner-wear and athleisure brand Victoria’s Secret Pink.
Following the Mumbai store opening, Victoria’s Secret will open its second India store in New Delhi then in Bengaluru. Over the next three to five years, the US business plans to open between eight and 10 exclusive retail outlets.
In 2021, Victoria’s Secret made its debut in the Indian market with a dedicated e-commerce store. The online store only retails the brand’s beauty line because both Victoria’s Secret and Major Brands wanted shoppers to experience the lingerie line in-store before launching it online. After the brand has established an ample offline presence, the lingerie line will also retail from the e-commerce store, expecting a strong response as online sales enable brands to reach shoppers in non-Metro locations.
