Belgian designer Anthony Vaccarello has been tapped by Versace’s sister line, Versus Versace, to create a collection for the brand. Known for working with emerging talent from the design world, the label last season chose to collaborate with J.W. Anderson for a collection which was presented in spring in New York.

Anthony Vaccarello got his start in the industry working at Karl Lagerfeld before moving on to join Fendi. He then chose to relocate to Paris and start his own line and has been participating in Paris fashion week since. The designer’s own creations share Versace’s sexy, rock-n-roll vibe, making the collaboration a logical choice.

In 2012, Versus Versace made the decision to change designers every season. Most recently, British singer M.I.A. collaborated with the brand on a collection inspired by Versace knock-offs that the singer would see at markets during her youth.

The change at the brand came just after Christopher Kane left the artistic direction to join luxury group Kering for his namesake brand. Versus Versace then solicited the design talent of J.W. Anderson, who has since been taken under the wing of Kering-competitor, LVMH. What could the future hold for Vaccarello?
