In parallel with its European retail offensive, Vans is stepping up its schedule of events. The brand, owned by VF Corporation, has lately had a strong presence at music festivals, fashion events and skating contests.

Now, it’s setting up a place to host its European community. As indicated by FashionMag Premium on April 25, Vans is getting ready to open a House of Vans in London. Modeled on the location of the same name in Brooklyn, House of Vans London will also incorporate the particularities of London’s local culture, serving as a meeting place for cultural exchange rather than selling products.

On August 9, Vans will open a concert hall with an 850-person capacity, a café, a cinema, bars as well as an art gallery and four artists' studios. Located beneath Waterloo Station, House of Vans will cover 30,000 square feet and make the most of the setting in Waterloo’s Old Vic Tunnels. Two of the tunnels will host a permanent skatepark.

"Tunnel No. 5 brings together a street course and miniramp section, allowing for creative lines whilst catering for all abilities” explains the brand in a statement. “The deep concrete bowl in Tunnel #4 raises the game for pool-style skateboarding, and is sure to become a proving ground for bowl riders."

House of Vans will be open five days a week.
