Urban Outfitters sales spike 13% in 2012

The American group Urban Outfitters (owner of Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters and Free People brands) announced a 17% increase in sales to 636 million euros (857 million dollars) for its fourth quarter of fiscal year 2013 ended January 31. On a comparable basis, net sales for Free People rose 37%, while those of Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie each climbed by 11% and 7%. But the sales powerhouse is always Urban Outfitters, with a turnover of 308 million euros compared to 248 million euros for Anthropologie and 72 million euros for Free People.

Group sales for the fiscal year were 2.08 billion euros ($ 2.8 billion), an increase of 13% compared to last year. Sales for the brand Urban Outfitters rose to 965 million euros, while net sales for Anthropologie clocked in at 817 million euros and Free People earned 237 million euros.

The group has a total of 215 Urban Outfitters stores, 180 Anthropologie stores and 77 Free People stores in Europe, the United States and Canada. During the fiscal year, it opened 49 new stores, including 18 under the name Urban Outfitters, 15 Free People units and 14 Anthropologie shops.
