Uniqlo plans to commence full-scale e-commerce operations in India later this month. The brand had launched limited online deliveries in October 2020 to revive its sales amid the Covid-19 disruptions and lockdowns.

Uniqlo’s new online store is expected to live from July 30 and it expects e-commerce to contribute around 15 percent to its overall sales.

Tomohiko Sei, Uniqlo’s India chief executive officer, told PTI: “Launching our e-commerce operations is also a part of our expansion that will provide customers access to the brand at their doorstep swiftly in these times of cautious mobility. Our e-commerce sales ratio would easily surpass the average sales of each store in the coming times.”

On the offline expansion, Tomohiko said: “We never stopped our offline store expansion plans. We are always looking for new locations for stores because consumer touchpoint is also very important.”

Uniqlo, a brand of Fast Retailing, had entered the Indian market in October 2019. It is currently operating six stores in Delhi NCR.
