Uniqlo to expand India presence with second store in New Delhi

Uniqlo, the Japanese global apparel retailer, will strengthen its retail presence in the Indian market with the opening of its second store in the national capital New Delhi on November 28.

Uniqlo had entered the Indian market by opening its first store in the country at the Ambience Mall Vasant Kunj in New Delhi.
Uniqlo had recorded Rs 2.2 crore ($331,000) in sales during its first two days retailing in India. The company’s second store will be opened at Cyber Hub in Gurgaon with a store area of 12,200 square feet.
Commenting on the store opening, Tomohiko Sei chief executive officer at Uniqlo India in a statement said: “We are thrilled to be opening our second store in our second month of operations in the country. CyberHub is a very unique location offering diverse experiences and is surrounded by an interesting mix of working professionals as well as people who visit for leisure. We believe that Uniqlo’s highly functional and high-quality apparel that we call Lifewear will be well received by this set of customers."
Uniqlo also has plans to launch its third store in India later this year at DLF Avenue, Saket.
Uniqlo is owned by the Tokyo-based business Fast Retailing and was founded by Tadashi Yanai. The business currently retails in over 23 countries.
