Global apparel brand Uniqlo has launched its collaborative loungewear collection with Japanese designer Maiko Kurogouchi ‘Uniqlo and Mame Kurogouchi’ in India, adding to its loungewear offering.

The collection features Uniqlo’s ‘Airism’ and mesh bras and panties, as well as bra-tops. As for clothing, there are tops, loose trousers, and jumpers, which bridge the gap between loungewear and casual wear, giving the collection a relaxed, natural feel. With 3D knit and ‘LifeWear’ technologies, the line also fuses Kurogouchi’s modern feminine aesthetic with Uniqlo’s signature basics.

“As a designer, one of my challenges has been to enhance feminine comfort and beauty with intimate items,” said designer Maiko Kurogouchi in a press release.

“Innerwear is an everyday essential; it’s the first thing we put on after waking up and it needs to feel comfortable on the skin. This collection will contribute to healthy and happy lifestyles.”

With a colour palette of rust hues, black, and neutrals, the collection mixes a paired-down aesthetic with subtle details like slits in trouser legs or curved necklines. The line adds to Uniqlo’s loungewear offering in India, where loungewear sales have increased dramatically since the onset of the pandemic and only continued to increase in popularity in the second wave. The launch also shows Indian consumer’s increasingly global outlook.
