On May 12, Union Minister of State for Textiles and Railways Darshana Jardosh inaugurated joint trade show Gartex Texprocess at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai, its first edition in the metro.

Gartex Texprocess is jointly organised by Messe Frankfurt and EX Exhibitions - Messe Frankfurt

The trade show launched on Thursday with more than 100 exhibitors and over 250 brands, Gartex Texprocess announced in a press release. The event runs until May 14 and comprises the Gartex Texprocess textile and machinery trade show, the Denim Show, and Screen Print India.

“I congratulate Messe Frankfurt India and MEX Exhibitions for expanding this exhibition concept from Delhi to Mumbai and creating an international level show in India, which endeavours to bring the Fabric to Fashion solutions onto a single platform,” Jardosh said at the inauguration. “I am extremely happy to share with you that India’s textile and apparel sector registered the highest ever growth of 40.55% in its exports and reached $43.44 Billion in FY 2021-22 compared to $30.90 Billion in FY 2020-21.”

The trade show’s ‘knowledge forum’, the ‘Denim Talks’ series will run this edition and focus on topics including digital manufacturing, bio dyeing techniques, and flash dyeing techniques for indigo. This will be a first in India, according to the event organisers.

“I urge the industry promote the Government’s ‘Vocal for Local’ campaign which is now moving towards ‘Vocal for Global’,” said Jardosh. “Vocal for Local is the real brand ambassador of Make in India movement by emphasising the promotion of local brands, manufacturing and supply chain, and shows such as Gartex Texprocess India are excellent initiatives and a much-needed show to fill this technology gap.”
