Unilever promotes Nitin Paranjpe to global COO

Unilever has promoted Nitin Paranjpe to the role of global chief operating officer and promoted Sanjiv Mehta from his role as India chairman to president of South Asia and a member of the Unilever Leadership Executive.

“Today’s increasingly fragmented consumer, channel and media environment requires us to operate with more speed and agility than ever before,” Unilever CEO Alan Jope said, as reported by ET Bureau. “With his deep knowledge and experience of our markets, Nitin is ideally placed to work with me and the Unilever Leadership Executive to drive our performance and help deliver our growth ambitions." Paranjpe was promoted from his role as head of Unilever’s foods and refreshment business, a role he took last year.

Speaking about Mehta, Jope said: "Sanjiv has been one of our most impressive General Managers with a consistent track record of growth and execution in high growth and emerging markets. He has been instrumental in unlocking strong performance in South Asia, delivering exceptional top and bottom line growth."

Unilever has been increasing the number of Indian managers in its global business and Mehta will be the third Indian to be a part of its ULE along with Paranjpe and Leena Nair.
