Online sales did well, up 10.6%. This was mainly due to an 18% increase in online fashion sales. In stores, fashion sales rose by 1.1% year-on-year. Womenswear sales were up by 21% and premium beauty sales were up by 9%.

Home also did well, with sales up by 3.7%.

"With promotional offers across the directorates continuing into this weekend, the weather looking promising for driving footfall into branches, and pay days coming around, we have plenty of reasons to be positive about the week ahead," said Christine Kasoulis, Buying Director, Home, John Lewis.
