Chris Coburn, Baiju Naik and Lucy Parks will join the board as Elected Directors with effect from 17 April 2015, while Kate Brewer, Kevin Payne and Daniel Smith resign as Elected Directors with effect from close of business on 16 April 2015.

The retailer also revealed a -6.8% drop in sales in the week to April 11, as the week was up against the week running up to the Easter holiday last year. Online sales rose 16.1% year-on-year, however, and good weather helped Outdoor Living sales rise 55%. Fashion sales were down 2%.

"As summer approaches and the warm weather looks set to stay, we feel confident that our strong spring/summer assortments will pay dividends in the coming weeks," said Ed Connolly, Buying Director, Fashion, John Lewis.
