UK's JD Sports to close down menswear brand Open
Feb 5, 2015
JD Sports, the British sportswear chain, is closing down its own brand Open, which only launched last year. Open targeted a young audience, with "good value fashion basics."

Open currently has 11 UK stores. The company said: "JD Sports Fashion plc has decided to cease investment in the eleven-store Open fascia trial. As a result the Management of the business announced a small number of job losses within its head office. The fascia’s stores will continue to trade at this time and the Group is currently looking for alternative uses for the sites and store based employees."
Retail Week reports that JD Sports lost confidence in the fashion side of the business after experiencing difficulties in its Bank fashion fascia, which it offloaded to Hilco in November last year.
