UK's Alexander McQueen opens first Paris flagship store
Alexander McQueen, the iconic British fashion brand, has opened its inaugural Parisian flagship store on the prestigious Rue Saint-Honoré.
The store features the retail concept conceived by Sarah Burton, Creative Director of Alexander McQueen, and realised together with David Collins Studio, with its design developed especially for Paris.
First announced last November, the long-awaited opening has revealed a 200 sqm. flagship spread over two floors and which promises to give customers the most exclusive and complete McQueen retail experience.
It is located at 372 Rue Saint-Honoré in a building that was designed by French architect Robert de Cotte and dates from 1717. The store's design elements have been chosen to go well with the original architecture, and include a staircase and tiles in Nero Marquina marble and two unique large black and gold rugs created by Alexander McQueen in collaboration with The Rug Company.
There is also a number of special commissions and unique pieces of mid-century style furniture in the flagship, whose colours are predominantly nude and black.
“The Paris store is a truly significant opening and we are very proud to finally have a flagship in such an inspirational city. I am excited that customers will get to experience this exclusive McQueen world and shop in an immersive environment,” said Sarah Burton.
“Working with Sarah Burton on the Alexander McQueen Paris store we have created a unique environment in this prestigious location. The beautiful natural pink and white onyx featured on the ground floor, has a real softness and femininity. This is juxtaposed by the hard angular lines of the cracked marble and timber floor. Subversive details such as padded fitting rooms and illustrated wallpaper featuring flora, fauna and skulls, add to the immersion into the world of McQueen,” said Lewis Taylor, Design Director, David Collins Studio.
