With this partnership, Beru will be working closely with Tribes India as the chief design consultant. The designer will also be part of a wide range of initiatives to mainstream tribal art form.

'Tribes India' is a brand under the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Limited (TRIFED). It has over 100 retail outlets across the country.

Commenting on the collaboration, Pravir Krishna managing director at TRIFED in a statement said, “I welcome designer Ritu Beri to the family of 1.5 lakh tribal artisans. Her association will give wings to Tribes India. Beri combines Indian fabrics with Western sensibilities in her designs. She will be guiding the TRIFED family with her creativity to develop world class handcrafted masterpieces to create a mini-India of tribal haute couture.”

Ritu Beri added, “It’s a great day because it’s the birth of our relationship. I must say that Tribes India is the soul of the country because arts and craft come naturally to these tribals. A hundred thousand talented minds all over the country need to be nurtured and supported to reach the global audience."

Tribes India is also looking to tap new markets with this association and has plans to go international through Beri’s network and experience of working with different countries across the globe.

Tribes India currently sells through its retail points and e-commerce portal. The company had posted revenue of around Rs 100 crore ($14.2 million) for the financial year 2018-19.
