Timex looks to tap smartwatches market with ‘iconnect’

U.S.-based watch major Timex Group is looking to tap into the booming smartwatches market in India with the launch of its new collection of smartwatches ‘iconnect’.
 

The new collection of smartwatches consists of two variants - iconnect priced at Rs 7795 ($110) and Iconnect Fashion priced at Rs 9995.
 
Timex Group is already a major player in the traditional watches, which contributes the most to the company’s sales. It is now looking to make inroads in the digital and smartwatches segment for future growth in the country.

Commenting on the launch of the iconnect collection, Sharmila Sahai, managing director at Timex Group India Limited in a statement said: "There has been a tremendous growth rate of smartwatches in the country attributed to fast internet connectivity and increase in the adoption of smartphones. People are now looking at wireless fitness and sports devices and are more drawn to adopting a healthier lifestyle.
 
“The new iconnect range is a one-stop answer to the multiple demands of an individual and its affordable pricing allows it to be consumed by different groups ranging from enthusiastic teenagers to diligent corporates,” she added.
 
The Timex iconnect smartwatches are currently available on Timex website, retailers and e-commerce platform Flipkart.
