ThreadSol hosts first Apparel Tech Up India in Tirupur

The garment technology firm ThreadSol held on July 6 the first edition of Apparel Tech Up India in Tirupur to discuss the latest trends and technology in the apparel industry.

At Tirupur’s Poppys Vista Hotel, ThreadSol hosted Apparel Tech Up India in association with Mehala Machines. The event was organised to explore how technology can be used in the Tirupur RMG Industry. The three main topics were how to optimise resources, lower costs, and improving outputs.

A keynote address was given by the Managing Director of CBC Group and General Secretary of the Tirupur Exporters Association, T.R. Vijaya Kumar on the current state of the garment industry. Kumar said: “With the rising competition in terms of cost and skill from countries like Bangladesh and Vietnam, it is imperative that Tirupur also adopt technology and automation to stay in the game."

Other speakers at the event included Anuj George, Country Head of ThreadSol India who talked about current trends in the apparel market including fast fashion and e-commerce, highlighting the importance of cost control and “decision postponement”. ThreadSol’s Ket Account Manager, Nawaz Khan presented on ThreadSol’s latest solutions, intelloCut and intelloBuy and Mehala Machines’ Sasi Kumar spoke about the latest automated cutting room technology.

The event concluded with a panel discussion around barriers to the use of garment technology in Tirupur today. The majority of the event’s audience was made up of garment manufacturers based in the region such as Cotton Blossom, Clifton Exports, and Armstrong.

ThreadSol is based in Singapore and is present in a number of countries including Sri Lanka, Vietnam, China, and Pakistan. The business’ solutions are used in over 150 Indian factories since its introduction to the country in 2012.
