The Summer House has launched a new sustainable swimwear line named ‘New Swim’. The womenswear brand has designed the line’s maiden collection to compliment Indian skin tones and reduce ocean waste by using ECONYL textiles, announced The Summer House in a press release.

The line is made from ECONYL, a textile which is fabricated using 100% regenerated nylon. The textile is produced with a zero waste method which recycles ocean waste including fishing nets and fabric scraps which are then dyed in a process free of harmful chemicals.

“We spent almost eight months researching various kinds of swimwear fabrics in terms of sustainability, life span, and quality,” said brand founders Shivangini Padhiyar and Rekha Datla in a press release. “We didn’t want to provide anything that pollutes the earth, and ECONYL is the absolute opposite. It helps clean up the earth while giving you great quality, long lasting swimwear.”

With a colour palette of coral, bright orange, black, ink blue, lavender, teal, and midnight blue, the line is designed to be, “perfect for the Indian skin tones,” according to the brand. Swimsuits and bikinis are cut to cover up, allow for movement, and offer timeless, seasonless silhouettes. The line also includes a number of floaty sarongs and robes, designed as beach cover-ups.
