The Saree Story to hold fashion show in Delhi
today Feb 12, 2019
The Saree Story will host The Saree Show at Club Kunzum in South Delhi on February 24 to celebrate India’s rich saree tradition with drapes from 40 different regions.
In order to promote sarees and celebrate the myriad women who wear them, The Saree Show will see a group of women walk the runway in their personal sarees on February 24. The women who will walk the runway will all be members of The Saree Story, a global group that aims to bring women together and celebrate the wearing of sarees.
The 4,000-member-strong group began life on Facebook three years ago and has expanded offline through fashion events. The upcoming fashion show will be its largest scale event to date and the group’s rising popularity is mirrored in the steady growth of India’s ethnic wear market.
The fashion show will showcase sarees from 40 different Indian regions to celebrate diversity and educate guests on regional styles. The venue, Club Kunzum, is located in Hauz Khas, New Delhi, and is a café dedicated to travel, culture and the arts.
Tickets to the event are currently on sale. As a woman-focused event, men may only attend if accompanying a woman.
