The Amethyst Room to hold showcase for designer Naushad Ali

Multi-brand boutique The Amethyst Room will hold a dedicated showcase for designer Naushad Ali to present his spring/ summer 2022 collection for men and women in Chennai from September 3 to 4. 

Chennai’s shoppers will have the chance to shop Naushad Ali’s latest collection in person at Amethyst this September, the boutique announced in a press release. Inspired by South Indian culture, the French influence in Pondicherry, and the people around him, Ali has crafted a collection designed to celebrate the mixing of cultures. 
 
“This collection is very personal to me, I am moved by the people in my life who have shared their stories with me and who I've shared close connections with,” said Ali about the collection in a press release. “Their parents come from different countries with completely different customs and languages but they are now living in India with a strong sense of Indian culture (my own son happens to be a Swiss-French Caribbean-Tamil mix). I am both fascinated and inspired by their diversity. They tend to have an interesting skin colour and a distinctive accent. They look, talk and behave differently. They borrow their tastes from different worlds. They are unique.”

The collection is priced from Rs 7,500 and features textiles including crochet, handloom, screen printed floral fabrics, and stripes and checks among others. Colours include browns, whites, blues, and corals and silhouettes are loose and wearable with vintage-inspired and embroidered details.
