The Amethyst Room to hold pop-up for Urvashi Kaur

From July 10 to 20, multi-brand clothing boutique The Amethyst Room will hold a pop-up shop for womenswear designer Urvashi Kaur and present her new collection ‘Vasara’. 

 
Urvashi Kaur’s new collection is a relaxed, floaty take on femininity with loose blazers, a neutral colour palette, subtle detailing, and an ethereal yet modern aesthetic. Launching in Chennai on Saturday, the collection will be available to purchase at The Amethyst Room with prices ranging from Rs 5,000 ($66.94) to Rs 20,000, the boutique announced in a press release. 
 
This season, Kaur took her inspiration from contemporary art and peoples’ movements contrasted with classic art such as John Constables’ depictions of the sky. Textiles include khadi cotton, geometric woven jamdani, sheer noile, and chanderi, as well as linens and cotton silks.

The Amethyst Room is located at Chamiers in Chennai and the boutique holds numerous pop-up shopping events with past designers including Naushad Ali and Maku, among others. The boutique had to put its pop-up schedule on hold due to the recent lockdowns in Tamil Nadu, but easing retail restrictions have enabled the business to restart its exclusive pop-ups. 
 
Urvashi Kaur launched her eponymous brand after graduating from Esmod International in Paris, France and working for designers including Lolita Lempika and Issey Miyake, among others. Urvashi Kaur’s brand website is currently listed as ‘coming soon’ and the brand retails on a number of multi-brand platforms including Aza Fashions, Nykaa Fashion, and Pernia’s Pop-Up Show, among others.
