Initially the French retailer tested the U.S. market through department stores. Now The Kooples is transitioning to phase two of its North American growth. The Kooples has been in the United States since late 2012 when it opened its first corners in Bloomingdale's. This summer the brand will be adding three mono-brand boutiques to these dozen or so points of sale.

The first of three openings by the Parisian brand is scheduled for San Francisco in late June. The 180-square-meter retail space will be located in the Pacific Heights neighborhood on Fillmore Street. Next up is another west coast opening for Los Angeles, in late June or early July. The 300-square-meter store will be located at 100 South Robertson Boulevard, between Beverly Hills and West Hollywood.

And of course, the brand's U.S. subsidiary obviously wants a piece of New York. The New York opening is scheduled for mid-July in the trendy Meatpacking District at 401 West 14th Street in a 250-square-meter retail space.

This spring The Kooples is busy expanding its international retail network, both in North America as well as in European capitals such as Berlin and Madrid. The brand has identified Asia as its next region for expansion. For fiscal year 2013/2014, the retailer is expected to post over 200 million euros in sales.
