During the three day event, 70 Indian companies and several from Japan and Italy are showcasing their products to a business audience in order to network and create deals. The IILF is hosted by ABC Equipment and Technology and is taking place at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre in New Town, Rajarhat (Kolkata).

The trade show, which was previously called the International Leather Goods Fair (ILGF), intends to promote leather goods made in India and abroad. The fair includes products such as handbags, purses, portfolios, rucksacks, briefcases, belts, sports goods, leather upholstery, hand gloves, and industrial gloves etc. as well as machinery for leather production, accessories, and chemicals.

The fair has a focus on leather production in West Bengal and North Eastern states in line with the Union Government’s Act East Policy that aims to boost production in these areas. The Tex-Styles India trade show is currently running alongside the IILF and is organised by the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) supported by the Indian Leather Products Association (ILPA). The fair was inaugarated by the West Bengal Minister for Finance, Industry, and Commerce, Amit Mitra.
