The Haat kicks off handloom fair in Kolkata

Multi-brand shopping fair The Haat launched a new edition dedicated to handloom on September 2 in Kolkata with the aim of promoting Indian culture and craft in the city.

The event runs until September 6 at the Kolkata Ice Skating rink, where the fair has held a number of previous editions, the event organisers announced on Facebook. The business-to-customer fair features product categories including sarees, men’s and women’s apparel, dress fabrics, fusion wear, jewellery, handicrafts, handbags, soft furnishings, accessories, footwear, and gift items among others.
 
All products at the event are handloom or handmade with the aim of showcasing, “pure Indian culture,” the event organisers announced on Facebook. Participating exhibitors come from cities across the country to showcase the diversity in Indian handloom. 

“Bengal's biggest festival Durga Puja is near by and if you think about shopping then Kolkata Handloom Haat is one the only name comes in mind,” The Haat announced on Facebook. Participating brands include JB Overseas jewellery and accessories, Meraki Boutique sarees, Royal Afghan Dry Fruits, The Royal Trunk jewellery, Organic Living personal care, Shajia Boutique womenswear, Kayra Go Ethnic by Renu Agarwal jewellery, Simlis Creation sarees, Poterbibi jewellery, and Only She casual wear among others.
