The Clothing Rental focuses on plus-size market for growth

Clothing rental business The Clothing Rental has launched a dedicated segment for plus sized womenswear to tap into a growing market for plus sized festive wear. 

As the autumn festive season approaches, The Clothing Rental aims to offer plus sized customers the opportunity to rent their occasion wear, the brand announced in a press release on August 31. The business believes that the plus sized community is currently underserved in the Indian clothing rental market and aims to tap into this opportunity. 
 
“We have always believed in sustainability and cost-reduction, also if a customer cannot afford it then definitely they should rent it,” said The Clothing Rental’s founder Shilpa Bhatia in a press release. “Our collection represents gowns that a plus-size woman can flaunt without having to worry about anything. We feel that there are very few options available in the market for party-wear gowns for curvy-women, thus we decided to solve and bring these fashionable yet lavish gowns to their doorstep without being expensive for them.”

The Clothing Rental is a bootstrapped venture which has served around 2,500 customers across India and has an average of 300 monthly customers, according to the business. Over the past four years, The Clothing Rental has reported 100% year-on-year growth and currently features western and ethnic wear for men and women.
