Thai trade official visits GJEPC Jaipur to strengthen trade links

A delegation of Thai trade officials made a visit to the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council’s Jaipur Regional Office with the aim of strengthening bilateral trade between India and Thailand.

On July 25, minister counsellor (commercial) and director of the Thai Trade Centre at the Office of Commercial Affairs at the Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi Saithong Soiphet led a delegation to visit the GJEPC in Jaipur. The delegation also included counsellor commercial Narathip Raksakit and trade officer Bobby J Gupta, the GJEPC reported on its website. 
 
The GJEPC’s welcoming committee for the Thai delegation included regional chairman Nirmal Bardiya, convenor for coloured gemstones Mahendra Kumar Agarwal, convenor for silver jewellery Rambabu Gupta, and convenor for sales to foreign tourists, synthetic stones, and costume fashion jewellery, B N Gupta. The representatives discussed ways of building bilateral trade links between the two countries. 

The Thai delegation invited members of the  GJEPC to attend the 67th Bangkok Gem and Jewellery Fair which is scheduled to run in Thailand from September 7 to 11. GJEPC representatives shared their request for a resumption of direct flights between Jaipur and Bangkok on Thai Smile airways which had been halted due to the pandemic. The GJEPC representatives also asked for officials to bring back the provision of a long-term multiple entry visa to the country for Indian citizens.
