The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) in India’s Uttar Pradesh state is planning to set up a textile park near the upcoming Jewar airport in Gautam Buddha Nagar district, according to the authority, which recently held meetings with Noida Apparel Export Cluster (NAEC) and agreed to allot a 200-acre plot to 100 textile businesses.

The textile park is expected to be ready in three years. Gautam Budh Nagar district is known for readymade garments (RMG).

Land for the proposed textile park will be allotted in a few days and the park will create employment nearly 5 lakh people, 90 per cent of the workers being women, a top Indian English-language daily quoted YEIDA CEO Arunveer Singh as saying.

According to NAEC president Lalit Thukral, the textile-apparel industry in Noida-Greater Noida area annually exports RMG worth ₹14,000 crore as land in Noida and Greater Noida is expensive, Jewar is an ideal option for businessmen, he said.
