Tata Group plans to launch an e-commerce app to bring together its various businesses, including fashion business Tata Cliq - Tata Cliq- Facebook

Tata Group’s upcoming app will provide a one-stop-shop for the conglomerate’s retail businesses, including fashion shopping platform, Tata Cliq, Business Today reported. Other featured Tata retail businesses will include grocery platform, StarQuik, and electronics platform, Croma.

“It will be a super app, a lot of apps in apps and so on. We have a very big opportunity,” said Tata Sons’ chairman N Chandrasekaran, the Financial Times reported. The business plans to launch the app by the end of 2020 or early 2021.

“The Tata Group, depending upon how you count, touches several hundred millions of consumers in India, if you take consumers who are walking in everyday into a Tata facility,” said Chandrasekaran, seeing sizeable potential for e-commerce growth.

Tata Digital, an arm of the business, was incorporated in March 2019 by Tata Group and tasked with incubating tech platforms. The digital arm will lead the conglomerate’s app launch and work to compete with established Indian e-commerce businesses such as Reliance Industries, which is also increasingly focusing on online trade, TNN reported.
