Tata Trent net profit up 6 percent to Rs 40 crore

Tata group retail firm Trent Limited reported a 6 percent rise in standalone net profit at Rs 40 crore ($5.6 million) for the third quarter ended December 2018. The company had posted a net profit of Rs 38 crore in the October-December quarter a year ago.

The company’s revenue during the quarter under review rose to 27 percent to Rs 666 crore as against Rs 526 crore in the corresponding quarter last fiscal.
 
Trent’s expenses also shot up by 28 percent in the third quarter to Rs 604 crore as compared with Rs 470 crore reported in the corresponding period the previous fiscal year.

Trent has been investing heavily on the domestic expansion for its fashion retail chain Westside and will be adding 25 stores a year on an average as it looks to double its Westside store count in the next five years.
 
Trent Ltd operates Westside, which sells products ranging from apparel, footwear, accessories to cosmetics and perfumes to home accessories. It currently has over 150 Westside stores across India.
