Tarun Tahiliani opens new menswear store in Mumbai

Eponymous designer Tarun Tahiliani has opened a new store for his menswear line in Fort, Mumbai. The flagship store is located on the fourth floor of Dubash House, where the brand’s womenswear boutique is also situated.

“Exactly one year after we opened the Tarun Tahiliani boutique over the entire ground floor of Dubash House, the time had come once more to expand our menswear into a separate entity,” announced the brand on Facebook. “Having seen a huge surge in it after the opening of the standalone menswear boutique in Delhi, the closest place we could find was the top floor of our beloved Dubash House with its big square hall, window views of Ballard Estate, and high gabled ceilings.”
The store mixes the brand’s classic opulent aesthetic with more masculine details and deep colours. The space has been designed to resemble a man’s library and living room and mixes wooden panelling with antique curious.

Tarun Tahiliani is known for his occasion wear and the new menswear store features an array of wedding and festive appropriate ensembles. Other notable features in the space include an antique Yali sculpture, ornate screens, and a delicate, nature-inspired mural.
The store may be teaming with antiques and traditional style décor but it is designed to appeal to all generations of the Indian man. “For me, the Indian identity is not Maharajas for weddings, it’s multiple different ways in which you youngsters express yourselves because not everyone wants to have the heavy jewellery, people want to dance, and have fun,” Tahiliani told Vogue India about his vision for the brand.
