Tarun Tahiliani opens FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week

Published
Oct 6, 2021

Designer Tarun Tahiliani launched the second edition of the Fashion Design Council of India and Lakme Fashion Week’s joint showcase on the evening of October 5 with a preview of a new collection, ‘The Reunion’.

Tarun Tahiliani held a party for his models to launch new collection 'The Reunion' - FDCI- Facebook

Tahiliani kicked off FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week with a vibrant preview of his men's and womenswear collection with snippets from his full fashion film. The preview showed a riotous party, models gracefully wandering around pristine gardens, and a sumptuous banquet. The full version of the fashion film will be shown on day two of the fashion week, October 7, to showcase the full story of the collection.

The Reunion was inspired by heritage Indian craft techniques, motifs, and traditional architecture. With classic traditional silhouettes and opulent embellishments, the collection was a classic rendition of the desi splendour Tahiliani has become known for.

“The beauty of old friendships is that they can be rekindled in a moment,” wrote Tahiliani, about his inspiration for the collection on Facebook.

As a celebration of “love and togetherness," the collection and fashion film is designed to herald a return to gatherings and parties following the struggles of the pandemic and a renewed sense of community.

The first full day of shows kicked off on October 6 and the fashion week runs until October 10 with shows broadcast on the FDCI’s website and social media platforms including Facebook. The fashion event's sponsors include Nexa, Rise Worldwide, Ajio, and Trell, among others, and other designers and brands set to feature this season include JJ Valaya, Arpita Mehta, Mohammed Mazhar, and finale designer Gaurav Gupta.
