Tarun Tahiliani opens bridal atelier above Mumbai flagship
Designer Tarun Tahiliani has opened his first bridal atelier above his flagship store in Colaba, Mumbai. The new venture offers the designer’s bridal couture customers a private space for fittings.
“Often, when clients from Mumbai visited our Couture Studio in Mehrauli, Delhi, they would ask me why I didn’t have something like this in the city,” Tahiliani told Vogue India in an interview. “The time had come for a more luxurious experience, one where brides and patrons could have their sartorial needs taken care of in privacy. We now have a dedicated space for couture and bespoke offerings, and a different space for our bridal wear in retail.”
The atelier features lighting by Kanchan Puri-Shetty which can be adjusted to a variety of settings to show how the clothing will look in different lights. With a colour palette of black, beige, and charcoal grey, the boutique also features mother of pearl details and ostler chandeliers from Ancestry. Malini Akerkar worked with Green Square Turnkey Solutions to furnish the space.
Tarun Tahiliani launched his eponymous brand in 1990 and has flagship stores in New Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata. The brand also has a retail presence in a number of Indian and international multi-brand boutiques including in Nigeria, the UK, and Japan.
