Designer Tarun Tahiliani is gearing up to open a new immersive shopping destination for his eponymous brand, Vogue India reported. The space was designed in collaboration with Divya Thakur of Design Temple in Mumbai and has been fashioned into an immersive experience with quotes, inspiration, and ephemera accompanying the brand’s clothing to showcase the brand’s philosophy. The store’s bridal fitting rooms are designed to welcome brides-to-be and their families to offer a private shopping experience.

“Everything we've done post-pandemic has afforded us the time to make it a labour of love,” Tahiliani told Vogue India about the store. “Also, perhaps it is such a spectacular space that needed to be used in its original bones, and it took us nine months to work out the space. It was definitely also a labour of love because even though it was one of these neo-classical stone buildings of old Bombay, we wanted the tone inside to reflect our Indian modern philosophy. And so, besides the wallpapers that we had printed, the pichwais that we made, the kind of stones that we used, the jaalis that have the TT monogram– I had to source it from all over India. We chose to do the interiors of the space in a manner that reflected this overall philosophy.”

The ‘Library of Time’ brand archive within the store will display vintage garments and photographs from the brand’s archives to tell the story of the label. “It will have swatches, dioramas made like David Hockney sets, and will constantly evolve for a sumptuous peek into different inspirations that the studio has relied on,” said the designer. Tahiliani also plans to turn the Library of Time into a coffee table book which will celebrate the brand’s upcoming 25th anniversary.
