Tarun Tahiliani opens food kitchens around factories

Traditional and bridal wear designer Tarun Tahiliani has opened food kitchens around three of his factories and has urged customers to support those around them during lockdown.

“In Khandsa, Gurgaon, the industrial area where our factory is located, the immediate need was to start a food kitchen to be operational for the duration, and we have done that with two other factories,” Tahiliani announced on his eponymous brand’s Facebook page. 
 
“Whether you support something or not, we encourage you to ensure that people in a radius around your work and home are fed,” said Tahiliani. “One can start as small as one.”

The designer also shared a list of NGOs which are working to feed those in need during lockdown and to aid hospitals battling Covid-19. 
 
The brand also launched ‘Things That Make Me Smile’ as an online initiative to encourage its followers to spread positivity. The brand has urged its followers on social media to consider “buying more consciously” after lockdown ends in order to support the many craftspeople who are facing an uncertain future due the the coronavirus crisis. 
 
Tarun Tahiliani launched his brand in 1990 and currently has two flagship stores in both Delhi and Mumbai, as well as one flagship store in Hyderabad and Kolkata.

The brand also retails from multi-brand boutiques in India and internationally. The brand had elected to close its flagship stores before lockdown began.
