After opening a store in Kolkata at the end of January, Tarun Tahiliani has opened his second flagship store this year in Hyderabad’s Banjara Hills. The store, which houses Tahiliani’s opulent traditional and bridal wear, has a striking façade featuring the brand’s name in gold with warm yellow lighting glowing from behind a delicately carved screen.

The interior of the store is yet more lavish and looks like a Mughal palace. Carved wooden screens create divisions and mannequins populate the space wearing regal traditional wear. A grand staircase leads shoppers to the upper level and a mirrored ceiling reflects the patterned tiles below.

“Hyderabad, land of the white Mughal,” wrote Tahiliani on his brand’s social media. “Pearl of the Deccan. The city of pearls and an extraordinary confluence of Islamic, Turkish and Hindu sensibilities, now extruding into an amazing form of its own. It has embraced our brand as we move into a new store, defining our standards of beauty, finesse, fit and service!”

Tarun Tahiliani’s latest men’s and womenswear collection for spring/ summer 2019 is titled “India by the Nile” and was inspired by ancient Egyptian art and design. Tahiliani took a seven member team to Egypt last year to study the country’s culture and this culminated in a showcase at India House in Cairo for the “India by the Nile” festival. The occasion wear collection has now launched in stores.
