Tarun Tahiliani joins forces with Ensemble for exclusive launch

Traditional wear designer Tarun Tahiliani held an exclusive launch and showcase of new collection “The Kashida Collection” at multi-brand luxury fashion retailer Ensemble’s Kala Ghoda store in Mumbai on December 16.

Tahiliani set up shop at Ensemble for an exclusive launch event on Monday, the designer announced on Facebook. The brand’s head couture designer was on hand to take appointments with customers at the event.

“After years of women struggling in cumbersome clothes, I was dying to go back to the lightness and finesse of the clothes I saw growing up,” wrote Tahiliani on the brand’s Facebook page. For his latest collection, Tahiliani has managed to retail his signature maximalist design but has done away with the weighty embellishments he is known for. 

The couture collection, launched in time for the winter wedding season, features a colour palette of pastel, blush, and soft pinks and features glittering embellishments and delicate floral patterns on textiles. Lehengas, separates, and sarees are heavily decorated but, despite rich embellishments and fine details, remain light-weight so they are comfortable to wear. 

“We did a few couture pieces that have been the top sellers and so we felt it is time to do an easier collection using all these elements even more appropriately for the next round of weddings,” Tahiliani told Ensemble about the collection, the retailer posted on Facebook. 

Tarun Tahiliani launched his eponymous brand in 1990 and currently has two flagship stores in both New Delhi and Mumbai as well as one each in Hyderabad and Kolkata. The brand is also available through multi-brand retailers in Nigeria, Japan, and the UK. Tahiliani was also awarded the “Fashion Legend” at the Vogue x Nykaa Fashion Power List Awards last week.
