Tanishq looks to online to boost sales on Akshaya Tritiya

Titan Ltd’s jewellery brand Tanishq has homed in on online sales with new technology initiatives such as video calling feature - live assisted chat - to sell its products on its e-commerce platform.

With the lockdown in India extended till May 3 to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the country, Tanishq is taking the online route to revive its sales.
 
Tanishq’s ‘Akshaya Tritiya’ sale will go on till April 27 and customers can either opt to go to the store and pick up their jewellery or get it delivered to their doorstep post the lockdown period.

Commenting on the sale event, Ajoy Chawla, CEO jewellery division at Titan Company Ltd, in a statement said: “We are reaching out to customers to put out collective belief and hope in the tradition for a new beginning, and usher in a brighter tomorrow. Akshaya Tritiya is the time when a lot of customers buy wedding jewellery and we want those customers to consider us as their trusted wedding jeweller.”
 
Titan had earlier stated that its jewellery division witnessed a 5 percent drop in sales in the January-March quarter mainly due to poor sales in March.
 
For the financial year 2018-19, Titan had posted a net profit of Rs 1,389 crore ($193.6 million), while its revenue was Rs 19,961 crore.
