The company is betting big on the country’s booming sportswear market and is now looking to foray into this lucrative segment for growth after launching a host of brands in other categories over the last few years.

Tablez will open its first ‘Go Sport’ showroom in the city of Mumbai which will be followed by a store in Bengaluru and other metros across India.

The company has earmarked an investment of Rs 100 crore ($14.33 million) on expansion across categories for the financial year 2019-20.

“Sports is the next major segment the company will enter. In the last two years, it brought into India international retail brands such as Springfield, Women’s secret, Toys’R’Us, Babies’R’Us, and Build-A-Bear. The company plans to invest another Rs100 crore in the current financial year to expand across segments, including food and beverage, sports, toys and apparel," Adeeb Ahamed, managing director at Tablez, told Businessline.

“The first Go Sport showroom will come up in Mumbai, followed by another in Bengaluru. The showroom will have all the major global sports brands,” he added.

Tablez also has a licensing agreement with Chinese lifestyle brand Yoyoso to exclusive retail the brand in the Indian market and has committed to open 30 Yoyoso stores in leading Indian cities over the next five years.
