For his autumn/ winter 2019 collection, Suneet Varma took traditional wear to new heights of opulence with shimmering embroidery and mirrored decorations. Lehenga sets, sarees, and floor-length gowns were presented in hues of deep aqua, bright red, gold, cream, midnight blue, and rainbow and the collection was dedicated to bridal and evening wear.

Models wore diamond earrings and necklaces and had their hair pulled back into simple buns for a look that was classic and glamorous. Iridescent textiles, draped elements, and ruffled organza capes also added to the ensembles.

Suneet Varma launched his eponymous band after graduating in Europe in 1986 and going on to work for Yves Saint Laurent. To this day Varma works as both a designer and a fashion photographer and his brand has partnered with Moët & Chandon and BMV among other businesses. Varma has shown collections in London, Paris, Milan, Hong Kong, and Indonesia among other places. The business is based in New Delhi and has around 300 employees.

LMIFW ran from March 13 to 16 at the Jawaharlal Stadium in New Delhi. Organised by the Fashion Design Council of India, the event runs twice a year in the capital.
