Sugar Cosmetics opens first EBO in Kolkata, plans aggressive offline expansion
Online colour cosmetics brand Sugar Cosmetics has entered the brick-and-mortar space with the launch of its first exclusive brand outlet in the city of Kolkata.
The new store is spread over an area of 300 square feet located at Forum Mall in Kolkata and will house Sugar’s entire product range that includes liquid lipsticks, lip primers, eyebrow definers, nail lacquers, blushes, highlighters and more.
The company had raised around Rs 70 crore ($10 million) last month and will be using the funds to aggressively scale up its offline presence across the country in the coming months
Commenting on the launch, Vineeta Singh, CEO Sugar Cosmetics, in a statement said, “We are extremely happy to announce the opening of our first store here in India. We chose the beautiful city of Kolkata to start off with our first exclusive brand outlet as we received a tremendous response from our first Kolkata kiosk that was launched last November.
“Since July 2015, when we announced Sugar in India, we have come a long way and now have a retail presence of 400+ outlets, spread across general and modern trade. Over the rest of the year, we will continue to scale our presence aggressively across the length and breadth of India,” she added.
The Mumbai-based make-up brand Sugar Cosmetics was founded in 2012 by Kaushik Mukherjee and Vineeta Singh. It sells its products across platforms such as Amazon India, Nykaa and others.
