Spencer's Retail appoints Anuj Singh as CEO and managing director

Spencer's Retail appointed Anuj Singh as its new CEO and managing director and Singh was made an additional director of the RP- Sanjiv Goenka Group company on March 22. Singh will act as CEO and managing director for a period of three years. 

The decision was made at a meeting with the business’ board of directors on March 22, Indian Retailer Bureau reported. The appointment was approved based on the recommendations of Spencer’s Retail’s nomination and remuneration committee. 
 
Singh has held leadership positions in organisations in India, Europe, and West Asia for over 20 years. Singh has extensive corporate experience in the food services and beverages industries and has worked for businesses including Nestle and Walmart India among others. Singh’s appointment as Spencer’s Retail’s managing director and CEO follows Devendra Chawla’s resignation from the positions around two months ago. 

Spencer’s Retail is part of the RP- Sanjiv Goenka Group which also runs Nature’s Basket stores. Spencer's Retail reported a consolidated revenue total of Rs 1,270 crore during the first half of the 2023 financial year with a total loss of Rs 87 crore. The business retails a wide range of products including clothing, accessories, personal care goods, and lifestyle products.
