“Priyanka Chopra, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Beyoncé and many Bollywood celebrities have worn couture pieces by Falguni Shane Peacock,” the fashion week’s co-founder Cindy Khella said in a statement. “At SAFW, our goal is to showcase the versatility of South Asian fashion. We invited the design duo behind Falguni Shane Peacock to open the runway show because of their seamless ability to blend Western cuts with Indian embellishments. We’re honoured to host the brand’s first runway show in Canada.”

Other designers that will participate in the fashion show include Deepak Perwani from Pakistan, Armani DBG, Bombay Couture, City Lux, Don’t Doze MIL, Heran Design, House of Raina, In Vogue Fashion Haus, Lux Collection, Market Clothing, and Maynn Men. Jewellery from Mehnaz Fine Jewels will also feature as well as brands Wellgroomed and Sim & Saara.

As well as hosting runway shows at the Plaza, the event will also curate a collaborative art exhibition at the Art Gallery Lounge. The exhibition will feature canvas art, painted fashion, and poetry curated by artists of Don’t Doze. Indian, Pakistani, Afghan, and Bangladeshi cuisine will also feature at the SAFW café.
