Sonia Rykiel is paying tribute to the label's founder with a 13-piece capsule collection dubbed 'Rykiel Forever.' Brightly-coloured jumpers, for which the label is renowned, take the pride of place in the collection.

The designer passed away in August 2016 at the age of 86, having made a name particularly for her sweatshirts, often decorated with bright stripes.

The capsule includes a revisited version of the famous 1962 'Poor boy sweater,' as well as a cardigan teamed with a scarf, a cape ensemble and a dress with a parachute lining. The pieces will be created in collaboration with the Italian textile specialist, Maglificio Miles.

“I felt that so close after the passing away of Sonia Rykiel, it was very important to celebrate the creativity and beauty that we have in-house,” said de Libran. “We have almost 50 years of archive that I did not want to be lost. People have been expressing love and attention for the brand, so I wanted to re-create these pieces so that they would not be forgotten, making them relevant for today,” explained Sonia Rykiel's Creative Director, Julie de Libran, to WWD.

In October 2016, the label announced its plan to discontinue the line 'Sonia by Sonia Rykiel' with the goal of repositioning the principal line.

The capsule, 'Rykiel Forever,' (€175 to €1500) will be available from the 15th March.
