Titan Ltd-owned watch brand Sonata has entered the smartwatches segment in the Indian market with the launch of Stride.
The new range of watches will be available in two versions Stride and Stride Pro priced at Rs 2,995 ($40) onwards. The watch is supported by the Sonata Stride Mobile app, which is compatible with Android and iOS versions.
Sonata is hoping that affordable pricing for Stride, coupled with the latest technology, will help it make inroads in the smartwatches segment in India.
Commenting on the launch, Utkarsh Thakur marketing head at Sonata in a statement said: “With Stride, Sonata builds upon its commitment of delivering tangible, relevant benefits to its customers, while democratising features and styles that are limited to a section of the market. Stride offers a slew of smart features at category-first price points, thereby making Smart accessible to everyone.”
Titan Ltd had entered the smartwatches segment with the launch of Juxt in 2016. The company sees huge potential for growth in the smartwatches segment and plans to launch cheaper models across its brands.
Titan currently commands over 50 percent market share in the wristwatch industry, estimated at Rs 6,000 crore. It has over 600 outlets across India.
