On Saturday December 9, the Blenders Pride Fashion Tour arrived in Mumbai and Tarun Tahiliani was chosen as the designer to showcase their designs on this leg of the tour.

"The collection represents a bohemian rhapsody, inspired by the beauty of nomadic tribes mingled with Mughal armoury-inspired art,” said Tahiliani about his latest collection. The designer explained that his garments featured “a multitude of designs, like laser etching, Zardozi, resham-thread embroidery, aari work". He continued: "Fringing and velvet accents are twisted with contemporary silhouettes on rich fabrics.” It was an evening wear centred collection that featured both women’s and menswear with a range of traditional silhouettes. “Blenders Pride Fashion Tour 2017 is the perfect platform to showcase this collection as it echoes style as 'More Thank You Think'," opined Tahiliani.

Kapoor showed Tahiliani’s final design of the evening which was a monochrome, floor length gown featuring Zardozi, subtle feathers, and was drenched in glitter.

Tahiliani, known for his traditional wear and use of embellishments, was the first designer to feature the Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor on his runway some years ago.

The Blenders Pride fashion tour began in 2006 and its 13th edition has been running from October to December across India this year. This year’s Mumbai edition featured live music to accompany the fashion show with artists including Malini Awasthy, Mumbai Strings, and Midival Punditz featuring Mame Khan. Nikhil Thampi was the previous designer to show a collection for the tour during its Kolkata edition.
