Snapdeal witnesses strong growth in fashion category in FY 2022

Value focused e-commerce player Snapdeal witnessed strong growth in the fashion and home categories during the financial year 2022 will overall volumes growing 88 percent as against the previous financial year.

In fashion, the kid’s category saw the largest growth with over 516 percent increase in sales volumes as compared to the previous fiscal year.

Men and women clothing grew by 131 percent and 65 percent respectively while footwear grew by 102 percent and 90 percent.

Commenting on the growth, Himanshu Chakrawarti, president of Snapdeal Limited in a statement said, “With our customers constantly top of mind, we have spent the past year growing sharper at all levels of the business and bringing to our customers a rich and relevant assortment that offers great value, high-quality choices. We are excited to continue to build on our success and expertise in serving India’s largely untapped online value lifestyle segment.”

Snapdeal has been trying to revive its fortunes and banking heavily on its power brands in the apparel, footwear, and accessories segments to boost sales volumes.

The New Delhi-based Snapdeal was started in 2010 by Kunal Bahl and Rohit Bansal It competes with bigger rivals such as Walmart-owned Flipkart and Amazon in the Indian e-commerce market.
