E-commerce business Snapdeal will make its debut on India’s Open Network for Digital Commerce in August. After signing the onboarding agreement, teams are now completing technical integration.

Snapdeal aims to reach new buyer and seller demographics by using ONDC - Snapdeal

From mid-August, Snapdeal will launch on ONDC  across India, the business announced in a media release accessed by ET Tech. By the time Snapdeal launches on ONDC, over 2,500 cities and towns across the country will be able to access the platform with more to be added in the remainder of the year.

“The launch on ONDC ties up with Snapdeal’s focus on connecting small and medium sellers with a large and growing online market, especially amongst buyers living outside India’s Metro cities,” said Snapdeal in a statement, ET Bureau reported.

Snapdeal will launch three main product categories on ONDC this August comprising fashion, home, and beauty and personal care. The fashion category will include clothing, footwear, and accessories for men, women, and children. The beauty and personal care segment will feature skincare products, make up, oral care goods, and hair care goods among others.

The business has evolved its focus over the years to the value, non-Metro segments of the market. For its launch on ONDC, Snapdeal will work with a network of sellers from the North, East, South, and West of India and with third-party logistics providers. The business sees ONDC as an opportunity to connect with more buyers and sellers while serving the needs of the country.
