Snapdeal witnessed a spike in sales across categories with fashion leading the way with a 254 percent growth over last year. The beauty and sports category saw 93 percent and 53 percent volume growth, respectively, over the last year’s sales.

The company claimed that 58 percent of the orders came from tier 3 cities, while tier 2 and 1 accounted for 15 percent and 27 percent of the order volumes, respectively.

Sellers from the tier 2 and tier 3 cities also witnessed strong growth during the sale event with a 99 percent increase in orders compared to last year’s sale event.

“The growing popularity of online shopping from smaller cities and towns is an indication of the vast growth potential in Bharat. With a sharp focus on both quality and price, Snapdeal’s value e-commerce proposition is well-positioned to serve these requirements,” Snapdeal spokesperson said in a statement.

Snapdeal's 'Toofani Sale' started at the beginning of October and concluded on October 31, with a final weekend sale.
