Multi-brand e-commerce platform Snapdeal had been building up its logistics capacity and has opened a total of 130 new distribution hubs across India since the beginning of the year.

Snapdeal can now deliver to 26,000 pin codes - Snapdeal

Spread across 26 Indian states and two Union territories, Snapdeal’s new distribution hubs now enable the business to reach more customers and speed up delivery times. The business can now deliver to 90% of Indians in metros and Tier 1 and 2 cities, as well as most Tier 3 and 4 towns representing 26,000 pin codes, the business announced in a press release.

“The new hubs are located in areas where there is either growing buyer demand or higher seller concentration,” said a spokesperson for Snapdeal, the Economic Times reported.

“The new facilities are designed towards rapid pick-ups from sellers and faster deliveries to buyers.”

Snapdeal has opened the majority of its new distribution hubs in the states of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh. The e-tailer has also bolstered its logistics capabilities in Jammu and Kashmir as well as the North-East, areas with traditionally less logistics infrastructure due to their locations.

“The network expansion will also reduce the distance that some of our shipments travel by helping fulfil some of the demand from within the region,” said Snapdeal. This will enable swifter deliveries ahead of the upcoming festive season, a traditionally busy time for retailers.
