The increase in numbers was attributed by the company to its constant efforts in making the app user-friendly to help new customers in their online shopping journeys.

The growth in app downloads has also resulted in traffic and an increase in volumes on the platform. The growth has also helped Snapdeal narrow its losses by 71 percent to Rs 186 crore in the financial year 2018-19 with revenues rising by 73 percent to Rs 925 crore during the fiscal year 2019.

The company continues to focus on value-priced merchandise to cater to tier 2, 3 and 4 cities across India and plans to get more customers to shop on its platform through the app.

“The 100 million android app downloads are a reflection of our leadership and granular understanding of Bharat-focused e-commerce. We are delighted that our efforts to improve access, convenience and value for millions of users across India continues to grow and deepen the e-commerce market in India,” a Snapdeal spokesperson said in a statement.

Snapdeal currently has more than 500,000 registered sellers, who have more than 200 million listings on the marketplace. The company has also seen its valuation increase and is in talks with investors to raise around $100 million (Rs 716 crore) to further strengthen its market position in India.
